What did everyone think of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince? One person's status on gmail chat is "I thought I was going to see HP: Half Blood Prince, not HP: 90210". What's your opinion? Was it worth the wait?
Hey kathryn! I disagree with the 90210 comment! Mostly because the teengage angst/awkward love scenes were probably more true to the book than any others! It was all in the book and it was just as fun, awkward, maybe even funnier on the screen. I laughed and smiled so much my cheeks hurt afterward!
I loved the movie (as a movie by itself, of course). I'm glad I didn't read the book right before seeing it like I did for the other movies, because I didn't obsess over all the changes and omissions as much... until afterwards! (I'm currently re-reading 6 and 7, haha) And I guess it was worth the wait... I'm still really upset that I didn't get to see this in November... grr!
I too thought that the film did an admirable job of staying true to the coming-of-age theme that comprised the majority of Book 6. Of course I have my gripes about the omissions, most notably the battle scene at Hogwarts that takes place at the end of the story. For me that scene is important because it sets up one of the few happy scenes of HP 7 - Bill & Fleur's wedding. I guess we'll see how they manage to set that one up.
I believe that every movie is good in some way. I also believe that no matter how amazing a movie is, if you are not in the right mood or don't have the correct expectations walking in then you probably will not enjoy it. It's like pairing the correct wine with your entree. To get the most from your movie watching experience, you need to enhance it with being in the right frame of mind. :)
Therefore, my blog will not give away anything important about the movies I see (meaning, no plot spoilers), but it will tell you what kind of person might enjoy the movie and what mood is probably best suited for it.
If you need any clarifications, feel free to comment on the post and I'll get back to you.
